Jaap Saathi: Naam Jap Counter ("the app") is developed and operated by Sagar Tiwari. This policy explains how the app handles information.
Information the app handles
Jaap Saathi does not require an account for counting. You may optionally create an email-and-password account to back up and restore your counter history when changing phones.
The app stores the following information locally on your device so that its features work:
- Your selected naam or mantra, including any custom text you enter
- Current and completed counts, malas, streaks and practice history
- Sankalp and anushthan goals
- App settings, such as appearance, sounds, vibration and volume-key counting
- Your chosen reminder time
- A picture you choose for the mala screen, if you add one
Without an account, detailed practice information remains on your device. Your chosen picture always remains on your device and is not included in cloud backup.
If you create an account, Google Firebase Authentication processes your email address and password for sign-in. The developer does not see your password. Your name and a private copy of your counter state—including selected mantras, counts, day-by-day history, goals, awards and counter preferences—are stored in Google Cloud Firestore so you can restore them on another phone. Database rules restrict that backup to your signed-in account. Your reminder time, app-only preferences and chosen picture are not included in cloud backup. Backup requires an internet connection; counting continues offline.
If you choose to join the community leaderboard, the app creates an anonymous Firebase identifier and sends the following limited information to Google Firebase:
- The public username you choose
- Your featured award badge, if any
- Aggregate jaap totals for today, the current week, the current month and all time
- Period identifiers and a last-updated timestamp needed to calculate rankings
Your public username, badge and aggregate total for the selected period are visible to other leaderboard participants. Your selected naam or mantra, detailed day-by-day history, goals, reminder time and app settings are not uploaded to the public leaderboard. They are only uploaded to your private backup if you create an account. Firebase may process technical information such as IP address and device/network metadata as part of providing and protecting the service.
Joining the leaderboard is optional. This information is transmitted using encryption in transit and is used only to provide, secure and maintain the leaderboard.
Permissions and device features
Jaap Saathi may use:
- Notifications to deliver a daily reminder or, if you enable it, a Count button that may be available on your lock screen
- Vibration and haptics to provide feedback while counting
- Audio to play optional bead and mala-completion sounds
Reminder scheduling and notification counts are processed locally on your device. You can disable notifications, sounds and vibration through the app or your device settings.
Advertising and analytics
Jaap Saathi contains no advertising SDKs and uses no analytics or tracking SDKs.
Data retention and deletion
Locally stored information remains on your device until you reset it, clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. If you create an account, you can delete your account and associated cloud backup and leaderboard data in Settings → Private cloud backup → Delete account and data. This also clears the practice history and chosen picture on that phone. You can also request deletion on the web. If you use the leaderboard without an email account, contact the developer with the public username shown in the app to request removal.
Children's privacy
Jaap Saathi is a general-audience devotional utility and is not specifically directed to children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users who choose to create an account provide an email address as described above.
Security
Jaap Saathi keeps detailed practice information on the device unless you enable private cloud backup. Firebase authentication and database rules restrict each cloud backup to its account holder. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure. The security of locally stored information also depends on your device protections.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the app's features or data practices change. The current version and its effective date will be published on this page.
